Prayers Up! ‘Menace II Society’ & ‘The Players Club’ Actor Samuel Monroe Jr. Passes Away

Roommates, Hollywood has lost another household name! Samuel Monroe Jr., who starred in ‘Menace II Society’ and ‘The Players Club, ‘ passed away this week, according to his mother. He was 52.

Samuel Monroe Jr.’s Mom Confirms His Death

Joyce Patton, Samuel’s mom, posted an update about her son on Facebook, per a screenshot from The Shade Room. She only confirmed his death, but did not reveal the cause. Instead, she asked the public to keep her family and three children in prayers.

“I want to thank all of my Facebook family and friends new and old for praying for Samuel Monroe Jr., my son. But today God called him home. Please honor my final request to pray for the family, especially his 3 children.”

Joyce also spoke to TMZ and said Samuel died after a battle with meningitis. He died on Wednesday (August 26), around 10:24 p.m. PT at a hospital. The report also says he was hospitalized with a severe case of meningitis, MRSA pneumonia, and other medical issues.

Samuel’s Alleged Wife & His Mom Are Involved In A Court Case

On Tuesday (August 25), TMZ separately reported that Joyce Patton had filed a court petition to put her son under a conservatorship. She sought power of his decisions, claiming he’s been on life support and hospitalized for months. She also said he’s been living with her for four years.

Also, Patton allegedly questioned the legality of his marriage to Shawna Stewart and said the couple hasn’t lived together in over 15 years. Shawna is the mother of Samuel Monroe Jr.’s kids. Joyce Patton reportedly also accused Shawna of collecting money from a GoFundMe that was set up for the actor’s bills and from his film residuals. However, Stewart clapped back, revealing her willingness to go to court. She also claimed Samuel did not want his mom to be in charge of his finances or power of attorney, as she was.

“Well, we will be fighting in court then. Everything will come out,” Shawna said.

In the recent report of Samuel’s death, TMZ noted that Samuel Monroe Jr. was discharged alive, according to a hospital rep.

The Roomies Pay Actor’s Resume Respect

Three hours after The Shade Room posted about Samuel Monroe Jr.’s on Instagram, the roommates flooded the comment section with over 15,000 responses. Many highlighted Sam’s resume, from the two hit movies mentioned to ‘Tales from the Hood’ and ‘Set It Off.’
