Say It Ain’t So: The Weeknd Is Being Sued For Stealing Beat For “The Hills”!!!

Right now The Weeknd should be on one of the biggest highs of his life since it was recently announced that the singer has earned a whopping seven nominations for his work on “Beauty Behind The Madness”. One of his biggest songs on the album has to be “The Hills” but unfortunately for him it may also be the biggest bill he will have to pay for! Thats because word on the street is that the singer is in hot water for stealing the beat to the song!

According to TMZ, the singer and his producers, Illangelo and Mano,  have been slapped with a lawsuit filed by music company, Cutting Edge Music. The company is accusing the trio of steal some of the beat’s baseline which they claim is originally from the feature they scored in the movie, The Machine. C.E.M. argues that the beat was taken without permission seeing how they own the licensing rights to the song and never once had an agreement with The Weekend or his producers.

Unfortunately for The Weeknd, his producer’s “Twitter fingers” may have really thrown him under the bus because the lawsuit cited a tweet that was sent to C.E.M back in March where he not only complimented the composer saying, ” Huge fan of what u did 4 the machine movie”,  but also said that the song “might make it 2 the weeknd next album.” Two months later… the rest was history adding insult to injury.

There is no word on how much the company is asking for but one thing is for sure, they definitely want the coins made from the song! The Weeknd has yet to comment on the lawsuit but take a listen to both songs  and tell us what you think!
