Okay #Roommates y’all may want to hold on to your tea cups because I’m about to spill all the tea. Now most of us are willing to do anything for $1 million, even if it means risking our own lives, but imagine turning a million dollars down because you didn’t want to say two simple words.

Yep! You did in fact read that correctly, former basketball player #MichaelJordan recently admitted that a couple years ago he turned down an endorsement deal because he didn’t want to say the word “Beanee Weenee”

Jordan is known for doing endorsement deals with major companies, such as #Nike and #Gatorade and making these brands household names. According to @complex Jordan claimed he was not “Willing to sell his soul just to make a deal.” Even if that meant saying “Beanee Weenee”

According to @complex a vintage interview from 1992 resurfaced where Playboys’ #MarkVacil asked Jordan about the brands that he’s endorsed and the offers he’s rejected. Jordan stated “Two or three years ago Quaker Oats came to me to endorse Van Kamp’s pork and beans — Beanee Weenees.” He then went on to ask the question to himself “How can I stand in front of a camera and say I’ll eat Beanee Weenees?”

At the time, Jordan was not a multi-billionaire, and he had recently won his second NBA championship ring from basketball. The offer, in fact, happened three years prior to the interview and at the time Jordan was not really starving for cash.

In the interview he did claim that no matter what he promotes, it must be an authentic representation of himself. He turned down both the “Beanee Weenees” endorsement and pulled out of his contract with a hair-care product after he realized he was losing his hair.

Overall the message behind this story is you can be successful by being your true authentic self, and not always looking to do things just for money.
