Last week Serena Williams surprised us all when she announced that she would be expecting her first child with her fianc Alexis Ohanian.
She simply posted a photo to Snapchat with the caption, 20 Weeks, but it turns out that pregnancy announcement was an accident.
According to People Magazine, Williams talked to Gayle King about her announcement on Tuesday at the 2017 Ted Talks Conference in Vancouver. During their discussion, Williams revealed that the Snapchat post was by accident.
She said, Well, actually it was an accident. I was on vacation just taking some time for myself and I have this thing where Ive been checking my status and taking pictures every week to see how far along Im going.
She continued, I didnt tell a lot of people to be quite honest and Id been saving it. On social media, you press the wrong button and Thirty minutes later I missed four calls and Im like, Thats weird.
However, she mentioned that she planned on making her announcement five or six days after her accidental Snapchat post.
Williams added,Every week I just take a picture and save it and Ive been so good about it and this was the one time I slipped, but its okay.”
Earlier this week she penned a touching open note to her unborn child. During the discussion with Gayle King, she also talked about her plans post pregnancy, and she said, My babys going to be in the stands, hopefully cheering for me.
