
*Alexa, play ‘Bounce Back’ byJuvenile* Sha’Carri Richardsonmay not be competing at the Olympics in Tokyo, but she will be back on the track in August.
According to a press release, the Dallas native will compete in Oregons Prefontaine Classic in August,@theoregonianreports.
Set to take place after her suspension, Richardson will run the 100 and 200 meters.
Im looking forward to running fast and putting on a show,” Richardson stated.
This comes about a week after Sha’Carri Richardson was officially banned from competing in the Tokyo Olympics due to marijuana being found in her system.
Most recently, Richardson spoke with Today to speak about the situation. She takes full responsibility for her actions stating, I know what I did. I know what Im supposed to do, (what) Im allowed not to do and I still made that decision. Dont judge me because I am human,” Richardson stated.
Richardson also said, Right now Im just putting my time and energy into dealing with what I need to deal with to heal myself. So if Im allowed to receive that blessing then Im grateful for it, but if not right now Im just going to focus on myself.
Nike also gave a statement about the athlete’s latest mishap. Though she tested positive, the company will still support the athlete. Nike stated, “We appreciate ShaCarris honesty and accountability and will continue to support her through this time.”
The Prefontaine Classic will take place on August 20th-21st.
Most recently, an Olympic Village staffer tested positive for the virus on Friday and organizers reveal they are under pressure in regards to how the Olympic games will proceed. Organizers reportedly note the staffer is not a resident of Japan and their job is only described as games-concerned personnel.
