LongtimeReal Housewives of Atlantaviewers have seen the dynamic between Bob and ShereWhitfield evolve over time. Shere started the show aiming for a seven-figure divorce settlement while still raising her two younger children, and by season 9 she was in tears as Bob casually commented about being physically abusive with her.
On the latest installment ofRHOA, viewers got to see the newest development in the divorced grandparents’ dynamic: Bob informingShere about his secret daughter after 26 years.
The reveal came on the episode ofRHOAthat aired on Sunday (Aug. 20), which largely centered around Shere hosting a “sip and see” in honor of her first grandchild, Mecca.
Bob Whitfield was invited to the event, and he brought a guest named Candice,whom no one on the cast appeared to know.
Eventually, Kandi Burruss Tucker who says she’s known Bob since she was 19 hit the nail on the head by guessing, “Does he have another daughter we don’t know about?”
After Shere prompted Bob to introduce her to Candice, he shared the truth, and the peach-holders proceeded to GRILL him!
After the women inquired about why Shere was left in the dark, Bob said they were“on a need-to-know basis” at the time.
As for his decision to share the news at the event, hedeclared, “I thought it was apropos.”
At the end of the episode, Shere brushed the matter off by simply declaring,“He’s been a piece of s**t, he’s still a piece of s**t. How ’bout that?”
We should also note that Shere Whitfield provided a mini-timeline, noting that she finally knows Bob’s true number of children after 26 years.
“Before we got married, Bob said he had two kids. We then had two more kids. So 26 years later, come to find out he has three kids.”
OnThe Real Housewives of Atlanta After Show, some of the castmates further remarked on the situation.
Kenya Moore humorously acknowledged the “blatant disrespect” of how Bob handled the reveal.
“Talk about the blatant disrespect, chile! Talk about the audacity talk about the nerve of some people! Like, really, dude? That was your wife!”
Kandi speculated that Shere’s subdued reaction may have been her way of“saving face” so that she wouldn’t “seem bothered.”
The Xscape artist added that, while she’s “glad” that Bob’s involved in his daughter’s life, he could’ve handled it better.
“I’m glad to know that he has a relationship with his child. I just wish he’d not have thrown that on everybody or [not] thrown it on Shere at least, because it seemed like the kids already knew.”
As for Shere, she suggested that as she and Bob weren’t married when the child was conceived the matter wasn’t as scandalous as it could have been.
