Showtime Sued For Live Streaming Issues During The Mayweather vs McGregor Fight

Recently everyone was tuned in to see who was going to take the win during the Mayweather vs McGregor fight, and by now we all know that Floyd Mayweather remains the champ.

However, some boxing fans were not able to get a clear view of the match, and now they’re suing Showtime for its poor streaming quality.

According to Forbes, Zack Bartel has filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon. In the lawsuit, Bartel alleges that thousands of fans did not have clear access to the fight through their Showtime PPV mobile app.

In the complaint it states, “Instead of being a ‘witness to history’ as the defendant had promised, the only thing plaintiff witnessed was grainy video, error screens, buffer events, and stalls.”

The complaint also contained a screenshot, which showed the videos poor quality, opposed to the high resolution that was advertised.

Bartel also stated that the streaming issues did not come from his end as he used a fourth generation Apple TV, which he was able to use other streaming services, such as Netflix and YouTube, with no issues.

Another page of Bartel’s complaint also consists of screenshots from Twitter, with other viewers complaining of the same issue.

“Defendant knew and should have known its system wasn’t able to conform to the quality defendant promised its customers, based on defendant’s available bandwidth and subscriber numbers,” says the Complaint.

Bartel reportedly filed the lawsuit with intentions of converting it into a class action lawsuit on behalf of all subscribers who had difficulty viewing the fight.

Roommates, what are your thoughts?
