Recently it was revealed that Jonathan Mattingly, one of the officers involved in the death of Breonna Taylor, landed a book deal with Tennessee-based publisher Post Hill Press. However, it looks like the company’s distribution company, Simon & Schuster, will not have any parts in distributing the book.
Late Thursday, Simon & Schuster released a statement and said, “Like much of the American public, earlier today Simon & Schuster learned of plans by distribution client Post Hill Press to publish a book by Jonathan Mattingly. We have subsequently decided not to be involved in the distribution of this book.”

As previously reported, the Courier-Journal, first found out about Mattingly’s book when he reached out to one of their photographers about getting permission to use a photo from a protest that took place last year. It was revealed that although he is still working the book, he has plans to title it, “The Fight For Truth: The Inside Story Behind the Breonna Taylor Tragedy.”
News of his book was instantly met with backlash after many thought that it was not right that he is trying to profit off of the death of Breonna Taylor.
According to the Associated Press, Post Hill Press is still moving forward with publishing the book despite Simon & Schuster’s decision not to be a part of the distribution.
Post Hill Press said in a statement, “Post Hill Press continues to move forward with plans to publish Sgt. Mattingly’s book. His story is important and it deserves to be heard by the public at large. We feel strongly that an open dialogue is essential to shining a light on the challenging issues our country is facing.”
A spokesperson for Post Hill Press declined to comment on if they were going to distribute the book themselves, or if they were going to look for another distributor.
