The pregnancy and birth announcements have been coming in hot for the last few weeks. We’ve got Rihanna and ASAP Rocky expecting their first fashion killa. Both Jessica Dime and Yung Bleu are taking another spin through the parenthood block. And Romeo Miller and his lady Drew recently welcomed their first child. Well, Simone Biles and her bae Jonathan Owens took to Instagram with an announcement of their own. The couple is now engaged after Jonathan popped the question on Valentine’s Day!
“THE EASIEST YES,” Simone wrote in the caption of their proposal photos. “I cant wait to spend forever & ever with you, youre everything I dreamed of and more! lets get married FIANC.”
Jonathan returned the sentiment in the post’s comment section writing, “Ready for forever with you.”
Within two hours of posting, the photos had received over 22,000 comments and more than 1.2 million likes on Simone’s account. Both her and Jonathan expressed that they woke up as fiance and fianc this morning — what a feeling!
Simone, dressed in a sleeveless, black leather dress, and Jonathan, dressed in a grey suit and black turtleneck, appeared overjoyed in all the photos. The now engaged couple were captured in shock, awe, smiling and, as they should, flexing Simone’s shiny, large diamond.
Jonathan spoke to ‘Texas Monthly’ about their relationship in June 2021. He said they hung out right before the pandemic hit. Apparently, it was one of the very few downtimes in the champion gymnast’s life. Jonathan told the outlet they used the time to create and strengthen their bond.
This was a match made in heaven, Jonathan said. Theres no better person for me. She loves me, shes so affectionate. I just love that. And its just intoxicating seeing how much work she puts into everything.
At this time, the couple didn’t share details about how exactly Jonathan asked Simone for her hand in marriage. Still, Black love is always a cause to celebrate! Congratulations on your engagement Simone and Jonathan!
