As if we didn’t see this coming, one of the shooters in the San Bernardino mass shooting background has been revealed and it shows …. you guessed it… “a troubled upbringing.” Ironically enough, this time it isn’t the actual shooter’s mental status that is being called into play but his father’s!
According to TMZ, Rafia Farook, the mother of Syed Farook, filed for a temporary restraining order back in July 2008, when the shooter was just 21. According to the legal docs, Rafia claims that her husband went crazy one day stating that he was “throwing stuff, screaming, alcoholic, mentally sick and not on prescribed medication.”
She also cited that her husband was physically and mentally abusive to Syed and her 2 other children which prompted her to file for the restraining order as a form of protection. Unfortunately, the temporary restraining order was denied and was set for a hearing which was to help in proceeding with her need for a legal separation.
“Inside the house he tried to hit me. My daughter came in between to save me,” Rafia said about one incident according to the LA Times but she says police were not called. She goes on to say,“He is always mad. Screaming on me, shouting at my kids for no reason. … My son came in between to save me.”
Syed was one of the two suspects that were killed by police after he, Tashfeen Malik (also dead) and possibly another unknown suspect unloaded a hail of bullets into a San Bernardino Reginal Center that killed 14 people and injured atlas 20 others, pipe bombs were also recovered. President Obama says it is possible that it was a terrorist attack but doesn’t rule out that it may have been a work related disagreement.
