So Sad: A Promising Syracuse University Track Star Found Dead In A Times Square Hotel Room

21-year-old, Sabrina Cammock, was a senior at Syracuse University, majoring in public health at the school’s David B. Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics as well as a member of the school’s track and field team.

Originally from Queens, Cammock decided to celebrate her spring break at Hotel Edison, a hotel located in Time Square, not knowing it would be her last time she would ever get to celebrate a spring break.

Cammock was sharing a room with some girlfriends and had partied the night previous before being found dead the next morning at around 9:20am. “They all went to sleep,” a source said, “and when they woke up, she didn’t wake up.”

There was no immediate signs on what was the actual cause of death as there were no drugs found in the room to suggest a probable overdose but an autopsy has been scheduled.

“She’s better than anybody you know,” Cammock’s cousin Kemal Brown, 34. “She’s a baby and she’s gone. I’ve never seen anything like this around me before.”

Being apart of a team who broke the school’s 4×100-meter relay record last year, Cammock was well known for her skills at the 60-meter to 400-meter sprints. She had recently placed second at a 60-meter dash at the 2015 Upstate Challenge with a time of 7.62. She has had an extraordinary track record with her fastest time being 7.55 in her junior year.

We keep her family and friends in our prayers as they seek for answers to what happened to their baby girl.
