Social Media Reacts After Betty Shelby Is Found Not Guilty For The Death of Terence Crutcher

On Wednesday it was determined by a jury that former Oklahoma officer, Betty Shelby, was not guilty of manslaughter when it came to the death of Terence Crutcher.

In the shooting, which took place back in September of 2016, Shelby can be seen on from the footage of a helicopter as she pulled Crutcher over. She can also be seen fatally shooting Crutcher, who was unarmed, while he stood with his hands up in the air.

According to NPR, after the verdict was announced, Crutcher’s father, Joseph, said, “Let it be known that I believe in my heart that Betty Shelby got away with murder, and I don’t know what was in the mind of that jury.”

During the trial, Crutcher’s twin sister Tiffany reportedly said that it was clear that the Tulsa police department was covering for Shelby, and that in the footage from the killing, police seemed more concerned for her instead of her brother who had been shot.

It didn’t take long before social media was filled with their thoughts following the verdict.
