Social media is sharing reactions after Barack Obama‘s brother, Malik, shared his endorsement of Donald Trump for president.
On September 4, Malik Obama’s official account on X, formerly known as Twitter, shared a firm message. In the tweet, Malik asserted that he is a registered Republican and he is casting his vote for Trump in the upcoming election.
“I am Malik Obama. I’m a registered Republican and I’m voting for President Donald Trump,” he wrote.
On September 5, Malik returned to the platform to share additional tweets. One read, “ABORTION IS MURDER.” To note, on September 2, Malik shared a tweet about abortion and VP Kamala Harris.
“KAMALA HARRIS RUNNING ON THE PLATFORM OF ABORTION!?” he wrote at the time.
Furthermore, on the same day, Malik Obama shared another tweet, calling Donald Trump “sharp as a tack.”
Lastly, in August, Malik shared a tweet accusing Democrats of being “advocates of abortion” and other policies.

According to Newsweek, Malik Obama is a dual citizen of Kenya and the United States. The outlet reports that in 2013, Malik noted having a “close” relationship with Barack, and they each reportedly served as the best man at each other’s weddings.
However, Malik’s strong support of his brother reportedly shifted “after several unsuccessful bids for office in Kenya.” In 2016, Malik spoke exclusively with the New York Post and revealed that he planned to cast his vote for Trump in the 2016 presidential election.
“I like Donald Trump because he speaks from the heart,” Malik told the outlet at the time. “Make America Great Again is a great slogan. I would like to meet him… Mr. Trump is providing something new and something fresh.”
At the time, Malik also briefly mentioned his failed political campaign while speaking about his brother. “I dont think politics is my thing,” he said. “Honestly, Ill be happy when my brother is out of office, and I will finally be out of the limelight and be able to live like a human being.”
In 2022, Malik specifically detailed his reasoning for switching sides on his brother via X.
“I stuck with Barack Obama all through his presidency, until I realized he was all about himself. That’s when I ditched him for President Trump,” he wrote at the time.
Earlier this week, Malik seemingly exemplified his feelings toward his brother in another tweet, which featured a family photo.
At this time, Barack Obama has yet to publicly react to his brother’s statements and endorsement of Donald Trump.
