Southwest Airlines Employee Gifts Kids With Toys During Holiday Season

Tis the holiday season! It’s not everyday kids receive a free gift when they catch a flight! Thanks to Southwest Airlines employee Nate Jordan of Las Vegas, Nevada kids are catching flights and getting new toys this holiday season.

Nate Jordan exclusively tells The Shade Room that he has hosted his own toy drive for the last 3 years. It all started with a simple gesture of giving a crying child a VIP pin from Disneyland in order to help calm him during the flight.

“I took my pin off and handed [it] to him and told him to keep it forever letting him know that [it] was my VIP pin from Disneyland. That automatically stopped him from crying and put a smile on his face. From that day forward, I knew just the little things help bring smiles to kids’ faces.”

After seeing just how much the simple gesture helped the child, Nate went and bought toys to give away to children, during the holiday season.

“The following day, I went and bought a load of toys, Christmas hats, coloring books etc to hand out to the kids flying out.”

When the kids receive the gifts, they’re ecstatic! “The kids are mind blown, when they see the sleigh full of toys. The kids begin to yell with joy, and hug me and their parents. A little girl cried today and kept saying “Oh my God, Oh my God,” when I handed her the scooter.”

Parents are also thankful for his kindness he tells us. “Parents begin to tell me about how they lost their job and the little things like I’m doing put a smile on their child’s face.”

While he is recognized by Southwest for his gift of giving, Nate Jordan exclusively tells us that he bought 1000s of toys with his own money.

“My upper leadership took photos today and is sending it over to headquarters. And no help [from] my company which I don’t mind. This is 100% out my own pocket.”

Good to see that there’s still some good in 2020.
