Stephen A. Smith Shares His Take On Rihanna Performing At The Upcoming Super Bowl: ‘She Ain’t Beyoncé’

Stephen A. Smith Appeared on SHERRI And Made The Bold Revelation Earlier Today

The sports broadcaster appeared on SHERRI this morning. And was questioned about the upcoming halftime performance by the host Sherri Shepherd.

“Are you excited for this halftime show,” Shepherd asked Smith.

Smith replied.

I don’t want to say that I’m not excited — she’s fantastic. That’s not where I’m going with this. Ladies and gentlemen, she’s a lot of things. She’s spectacular, actually — And congratulations on new momma-hood… There’s one thing she’s not! She ain’t Beyoncé.

Shepherd and the audience immediately reacted to Smith’s statement with shock. But he continued to explain his stance.

The only reason I brought up Beyoncé is because Beyoncé recently performed at the Super Bowl… and without Bruno Mars and Coldplay.

Shepherd went on to explain that while that is true, Beyoncé has “had her time.” And now it’s Rihanna’s. Smith rebutted by explaining that his comments are no shade at Rihanna and that she is still a great artist. But he believes “there [are] levels” to talent.

Rihanna’s music is fantastic. She’s great. She’s a sister. I love her dearly, I listen to her music, I’m gonna support her ’til the cows come home. I’m just telling you, for me, there’s Beyoncé and there’s everybody else. Just like there’s Michael Jackson and there’s everybody else.

Shepherd ended the segment by telling Smith that Rihanna’s performance may surprise him. And she’ll be waiting to see.

Rihanna Recently Shared The Teaser For Her Upcoming Performance

As The Shade Room previously reported, Rihanna took to Instagram last Friday. And shared a teaser ahead of her upcoming halftime performance.

Fans were undeniably left on the edge of their seats — all but Stephen A. Smith, it seems.
