Steve Harvey To Return As The Host Of ‘Showtime At The Apollo’ During Its Revival On Fox

The legendary show, “Showtime At The Apollo” is making its return to television later this year and at the start of 2017.

According to Variety, a two-hour version of the classic talent competition show will air on Fox on December 5th, with another one hour show to follow early next year.

The Apollo’s weekly amateur competition has been the start for some of music’s biggest names including, The Jackson 5, James Brown, Stevie Wonder, Lauryn Hill and a host of others. The competition began as a nationally syndicated show back in 1987, and had a successful run up until 2008.

Steve Harvey hosted the show from 1993 until 2000. He spoke about the shows return, “I’m excited to be going back home to the Apollo to celebrate the history of this great theater. I have great memories from my time there, and this is going to be a homecoming party that you won’t want to miss.”

Jim Roush and Chris Wagner will produce the shows return for the Roush-Wagner Company.
