The video went viral of police officer, Ben Fields, forcefully slamming and dragging a black female student before taking her into custody.
The student reportedly was asked to give up her cell phone and didn’t comply after her teacher and an administrator told her to leave the classroom. That’s when the resource officer was called into remove her.
18-year-old classmate Niya Kenny, was in the classroom and witnessed officer Fields in action. She took out her cell phone and recorded a clip of Fields arresting the student before trying to defend her fellow classmate from officer Fields, also known by the students as “officer slam” due to his reputation.
“I was screaming ‘What the f, what the f is this really happening?’ I was praying out loud for the girl,” says Kenny. “I just couldn’t believe this was happening I was just crying and he said, since you have so much to say you are coming too. I just put my hands behind my back.”
Sadly, Kenny who was just standing upper classmate in a situation that could have been handled differently, was charged with disturbing schools.
Her mother had a valid point when she was interviewed by WLTX. She said
“But looking at the video, who was really disturbing schools? Was it my daughter or the officer who came in to the classroom and did that to the young girl?”
Roommates what do you think about the whole situation?
