Whew! A shopping trip at a Michigan mall turned into total chaos and 19-year-old Suniya Jenkins will never forget it. What started as a regular day at the Kids Foot Locker inside Southland Center in Taylor allegedly spiraled out of control. Here’s what happened after a card declined, leading to a heated exchange at the register.
It all went down at the Kids Foot Locker inside Southland Center in Taylor, where witnesses say a woman shopping with her children allegedly lost it after her card was declined at the register. Thats when someone in line reportedly hit her with the comment, “Broke b*tch,” and things escalated fast. Witnesses say the situation got tense and Suniya Jenkins ended up being caught in the mayhem.
According to reports, the woman became furious and started shouting at everyone around her. In the middle of the heated exchange, Jenkins who says she only came into the store to see what was going on somehow found herself caught in the chaos. “I think it was unfair to me to get stabbed,” Jenkins told Fox 2 Detroit, explaining how the suspect allegedly turned her anger toward her.
Jenkins says the woman began screaming and making threats, even telling her she was going to shoot her before things turned physical. “She had kids with her,” Jenkins recalled, saying she didnt realize she had been stabbed until afterwards. Jenkins was struck multiple times in her neck, stomach, and thigh and suffered a punctured lung.
“As the argument got verbal, she put her hand in her purse and proceeded to tell me she was going to shoot me,” Jenkins shared. “I did not see or even know I was stabbed until after the physical altercation.” She also added, “I am going to press charges, but it does sadden me because I don’t want her to be taken away from her children, I truly don’t.”
Police say the woman was taken into custody shortly after the incident and is expected to face charges. Despite her injuries, Jenkins says shes grateful to be alive and recovering. Furthermore, Jenkins is expected to make a full recovery, but the experience has left her shaken. Authorities are still investigating the shocking mall brawl that turned a simple trip to Kids Foot Locker into a viral moment nobody saw coming.
