Taco Bell Testing Out Crispy Chicken Wings

TSR Foodies: First they came for the fries, now Taco Bell is going to try its hand at chicken wings!

The Mexican food chain is testing new crispy chicken wings at one of its Southern California locations, according to Foodbeast. The wings are advertised at the location’s drive-thru and are described as “five-piece crispy chicken wings with spicy ranch sauce.” The sign also states the bone-in drums and flats are breaded and flavored with “bold Mexican seasoning” for the price of $4.99.

“We’re always innovating and listening to our fans and chicken is just one category that we’re excited to explore further and put our Taco Bell spin on,” Taco Bell said in a statement to PEOPLE.

If y’all wondering whether or not you should “live mas” with these wings, early reviews for Taco Bell’s new item have been pretty good.

YouTube Channel Peep This Out! posted a rave review, describing the wings as “fried perfectly, not oily, and the quality of the meat is very solid.”

But if we get wings, there’s the understanding that Taco Bell has to take some fan favorites off its menu to make room for the new fare.

Earlier this week, the chain reportedly stopped serving Grilled Steak Soft Taco, 7-Layer Burrito, Triple Layer Nachos, Cheesy Fiesta Potatoes, Loaded Grillers and Nachos Supreme.

The ever-popular Quesarito will also be removed, but from the in-restaurant menu only, according to PEOPLE. It will still be available to order online or through the Taco Bell app for order ahead, a spokesperson for the company tells PEOPLE.

The move comes about after Taco Bell shares it has spent “months of analyzing the new way we are running our restaurants.”

“With safety top of mind, we want to ensure an easy and fast ordering experience for our guests and team members,” Taco Bell added. “While some old favorites may be retiring, the continued creativity coming from our Food Innovation Team is non-stop.”
