Tay Keith‘s cause of death has been revealed several months after the music producer was reportedly found dead inside his Nashville, Tennessee home. The music producer was just 29 when he was found on Thursday, June 18.
The Shade Room previously reported that Keith was found dead inside his luxury apartment in Nashville in June 2026. Investigators said at the time that foul play was not suspected, and Keith was found while authorities were conducting a welfare check.
The Nashville Medical Examiner’s Office found that the music producer had ketamine and mitragynine in his system at the time of death, according to TMZ. Mitragynine is a chemical compound found in kratom, an opioid.
According to the American Psychiatric Association, kratom is a plant originating in Southeast Asia. The drug is legal and sometimes used for opioid withdrawal, per the National Institute on Drug Abuse. However, it’s unclear how the record producer obtained the drug.
In addition, the medical examiner reportedly found ethanol and nicotine in Keith’s system. Furthermore, the M.E. noted that Keith had mild coronary artery disease.
The outlet reported the findings on Thursday, September 17.
