Teen Girls Spark #SupportThePuff Movement After Being Suspended For Having Natural Hair!

I’d bet that many of our Roommates have probably joined the natural hair movement. As scary as it was to do that big chop (unless you’re like me and skipped that part), it’s liberating to finally embrace your budding ‘fro! Now, this may sound like the beginning of a 2016 Soul Glo ad, but the fact is that the ideologies behind having a natural mane make the transition less enjoyable. Lemme explain…

Teenager Tayjha Deleveaux is a student at the CR Walker Senior High School in the Bahamas and one day in particular, her teacher just wasn’t feeling her hair. She began to call the teen’s hair ‘untidy’, ‘unruly’ and ‘unkempt’. Tayjha’s mother, Turkessa, was so unimpressed by the school’s ridiculous antics. She wrote on her Facebook, “Never received a parent teacher conference until now and for her NATURAL BEAUTIFUL KINKY HAIR that God blessed her with! I will not be silenced!! Someone has to stand up and let these people know that this foolishness has to end.”

While this moment was certainly a bad call on the school’s part, some good was still done here. Shortly after *Black Twitter caught wind of the story, there’s been an outpouring of professionals such as doctors, lawyers and teachers who are rocking their naturals and embracing their blackness! Take a look at some of our favorite tweets!

If you’re down for the cause, then you can sign their petition below! They’re almost at their goal!
