Tekashi 6ix9ine’s Father Speaks On His Son’s Sentencing And Says He Wants To Repair Their Strained Relationship—“I Miss Him”

#Roommates, after what seemed like forever, Tekashi 6ix9ine was finally sentenced today and despite what many speculated, he was not set free. There have been several reactions from fans, friends and family members—including his estranged father.

Tekashi 6ix9ine′s father Daniel Hernandez Sr. reportedly last saw his son when he was in the third grade after Tekashi’s mom kicked him out of the family home for using heroin in the bathroom, according to Lance Lazzaro, Tekashi’s attorney. In the middle of today’s hearing, Hernandez, 58, caused a bit of a stir in Manhattan Federal Court when he tried to get his son’s attention.

Spotting his estranged father, Tekashi has this to say:

“I took one glance — I see my biological father. I haven’t seen him since the third grade. I don’t even know if this is a f**king joke, everything I go through.”

Tekashi wasn’t the only one who had harsh words for Hernandez Sr., as Judge Paul Engelmayer scolded him when he tried to raise his hand to speak and address the court. Judge Engelmayer said, “It’s way too late to show and speak on his behalf. You squandered that right many years ago.”

Outside the courtroom, Hernandez Sr. briefly spoke to the media about his relationship with his son, claiming that he has been trying to get in contact with him for years, but did not have his phone number. He also said, “I wanted to tell him I love him. I miss him. Why is he going to be angry?”

Tekashi was sentenced to 24 months in prison, 13 of which he has already served. He is scheduled to be released in late 2020.
