Whew! Roommates, the 2024 Tesla Cybertrucks may look like they’re ready for anything, but the company has taken action to remove nearly 4,000 of them from the road.
This week, Tesla issued a recall on the Cybertruck due to an issue with the accelerator pedal. According to the Associated Press, the issue impacts 3,878 of the vehicles Tesla made between November 13, 2023, and April 4, 2024.
As mentioned, Tesla recalled their Cybertrucks after discovering that the accelerator pedal can get stuck. This means the truck could accidentally accelerate, potentially increasing the chances of a car crash.
A filing with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) provided additional details. The report claimed that the accelerator pedal pad may dislodge and become trapped by the interior trim.

Tesla reportedly said it will replace or repair the accelerator pedal assembly for free. Owners may contact Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752. Teslas number for the recall is SB-24-33-003.
Tesla will also reportedly send out letters to the Cybertruck owners in June. However, as of Monday, the NHTSA said no one has reported any collisions, injuries, or deaths related to the issue to Tesla.
The company has also moved to address the issue in its production line. A new accelerator pedal component has been added to the Cybertrucks in production. That reportedly began on Wednesday of this week.
The Tesla Cybertruck has only officially been on the streets since November. The automaker delivered the first dozen or so of its futuristic Cybertruck pickups to customers then. By that point, due to the large-scale production, the delivery was two years behind the original schedule.
Its owner, Elon Musk, addressed the difficulties of mass producing the vehicle, saying during the companys third-quarter conference call in October that “we dug our own grave with Cybertruck.”
