The Body Of Missing LSU Student Kori Gauthier Has Been Found

The power of social media continues to prevail, and several users have rallied together in hopes of finding the missing 18-year-old Louisiana State University (LSU) student Kori Gauthier. Kori hadn’t been seen since April 6th, and her vehicle was found unoccupied at the scene of an accident on the I-10 bridge in Baton Rouge. Users flooded Twitter sharing her photo and information about her last whereabouts, but unfortunately, news of the worst possible outcome became available today. According to a joint press release from Baton Rouge Police and LSU Police, Kori’s body was found in the Mississippi River on Tuesday.

LSU Chief of Police Bart Thompson said in a statement, “Since Kori was first reported missing, the LSU Police Department, Baton Rouge Police Department, and other law enforcement agencies and volunteers have taken exhaustive measures to locate her and, in the process, to determine what led to her disappearance.” Chief Thompson continued, “This is a difficult conclusion for all of us, but we hope this will bring closure for the Gauthier family.”

Chief Thompson also gave insight into the information on Kori’s case. He stated, “Based on cell phone tracking, video footage and a timeline of the events related to this case — combined with other evidence we shared with Kori’s parents that we are not at liberty to disclose publicly out of respect for their privacy — we have concluded that there was no criminal activity or foul play involved.”

Many Roommates left comments leaving prayers for Kori’s family. One commented, “This world is so evil. I am so sorry. Prayers for her and her family!” Another commented,” My heart goes out to her loved ones … I’m so sorry, baby girl. May you Rest In Peace.”

In addition, the police released a statement from Kori’s family, “The Gauthier family has asked to extend their sincerest thanks to all law enforcement officials and volunteers who helped in the investigation and the search. And also, they thank everyone for their support during this time and ask to please respect their privacy in the days and weeks going forward.”

Roommates, let’s continue to keep Kori’s loved one in our thoughts and prayers.
