The Notorious B.I.G. To Be Honored With The ASCAP Founders Award At The 30th Annual ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Music Awards

It has been 20 years since the passing of The Notorious B.I.G.

Although he has been absent in the physical, his legacy has lived on and his music has helped to inspire a new generation of artists.

Now the late rapper will be receiving the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) most prestigious honor, the ASCAP Founders Award.

ASCAP will host their 30th annual Rhythm & Soul Music Awards in Los Angeles on June 22nd, where Biggie’s mother, Voletta Wallace, widow, Faith Evans, his children and his former managers and estate consultant, Wayne Barrow and Mark Pitts, will accept the award.

ASCAP President, Paul Williams said, “Biggie was a legend in his own time and his legacy lives on through his music. Like all songwriters, he was a master storyteller, but it was the realism in his rhymes that captured so many.”

Other musical greats that have been honored with this award includes Quincy Jones, Stevie Wonder, Berry Gordy and Motown Industries, Dr. Dre, Diddy, Jermaine Dupri and many other musical greats.
