The Wisconsin Department Of Justice Release More Details On The Jacob Blake Shooting & Identifies 2 Additional Officers That Were At The Scene (Update)

Many people around the world, and across various industries have been showing their support for Jacob Blake following the recent shooting caused by police, which has left him paralyzed from the waist down. Earlier this week, officials named the shooting officer as Rusten Sheskey.

According to Fox 6, the Wisconsin DOJ has released new information and identified two additional officers that were at the scene.

On Friday, DOJ said that there were two taser attempts by two different officers before Jacob was shot in his back 7 times. Officials say the officers were dispatched to a residence near 28th Street and 40th Avenue after a woman called and said that her boyfriend was on the premises and was not supposed to be there.

During an attempt to arrest Jacob, Rusten Sheskey deployed a taser. Once that attempt failed, Vincent Arenas made a second attempt as he deployed his taser. That is when the viral video showed Sheskey grabbing and shooting Jacob 7 times in his back. The other identified officer that was at the scene was Brittany Meronek.

There is no bodycam footage of the incident because the Kenosha Police Department does not have body cameras for its officers.

Rusten Sheskey has been an officer with the Kenosha Police Department for 7 years, Vincent Arenas joined in February 2019, and Brittany Meronek joined in January of this year.

As we previously reported, Ben Crump, the attorney for the Blake Family, released a statement earlier this week when he noted that Jacob was there to break up an altercation, and when he tried to get inside of his vehicle, he was shot 7 times, right in front of his 3 children.
