Ticketmaster To Officially Require 24-Hour Proof Of A Negative COVID-19 Test Or Current Vaccination In Order To Attend Concerts

#Roommates, while we currently wait for the ability to be able to once again attend concerts, Ticketmaster has just announced a new rule that will change the industry for the foreseeable future. Ticketmaster recently rolled out new requirements that state a negative COVID-19 test or current vaccination for the virus is required to attend all concerts.

@NYPost reports, Ticketmaster is gearing up to unveil a strict new plan of action to ensure the safety of concert-goers amid the current COVID-19 pandemic. The ticketing giant is set to require all customers to use their cellphones to verify they have recently received a COVID-19 vaccine or that they have tested negative for the virus within a 24 to 72-hour time period.

Reportedly, Ticketmaster stated it will not store or access medical records under its devised plan—however if approved, customers would still need to verify that they’ve either already been vaccinated or have tested negative for COVID-19. Ticketmaster’s plan is still being worked out, but in its current state it will utilize three separate components, including the company’s digital ticketing app, third-party health information firm and a testing/vaccination distributor.

Concert-goers would then instruct a lab to send over test results to companies like CLEAR Health Pass or IBM’s Digital Health Pass, which would verify their status to Ticketmaster. Anyone who tests positive or doesn’t get screened won’t be granted access to the event venue.

Ticketmaster’s digital ticketing app will also eliminate the need for paper tickets and prohibits ticket reselling. Company president Mark Yovich said he expects demand for digital screening services to greatly improve once a vaccination is ultimately approved and distributed.

“We’re already seeing many third-party health care providers prepare to handle the vetting — whether that is getting a vaccine, taking a test or other methods of review and approval — which could then be linked via a digital ticket so everyone entering the event is verified,” Yovich said.
