Todd Chrisley is out here spilling all the tea on his reunion with his wife, Julie, after their time behind bars. In the latest episode of their podcast, Chrisley Confessions 2.0, Todd got real about the moment he laid eyes on Julies new look, specifically, her unexpected hair color switch-up. After 30 years of marriage, Todd was shook seeing Julie ditch her signature blonde locks for a darker vibe. The reality TV star even joked he was ready to turn around and head back to prison!
Todd wasnt ready for the plot twist that was Julies new look. In the July 23 episode of their podcast, the 56-year-old got candid about his reunion with his leading lady after their time apart. For three decades, Todd said hed only known Julie as a blonde. So, when they finally saw each other again, with Julie rocking darker hair, he was thrown all the way off.
Im not going to lie. When I first saw you, when I got out of that car, I started thinking about going back, Todd admitted, per Us Magazine. But then I thought, let me embrace this. This is a moment.
Julie wasnt here for the shade as she snapped, Are you kidding me right now? Well, I know that, Todd, but I didnt have any choice. Todd doubled down, saying it was a “rough moment” to see his wife looking different from how hes used to seeing her. He stressed theyd been together for so many years, and never has Julie shown herself with anything but blonde hair.
Further on, sis was spilling on how she was maintaining her hair behind bars at least for the first few months she was locked up. During the podcast, Julie revealed she had access to a salon while serving her sentence, which kept her hair game on point in the beginning. She shared that she was getting highlights from a fellow inmate who worked her magic on her head. I got there in January, right? Julie said. She left in March. So, she did my hair one time before she left.
When her prison hairstylist got released, Julies hair routine took a hit. Her roots started growing out gray, and with no one to keep her blonde poppin, she turned to brown box dye to cover it up. I did that for a long time, Julie shared. I did that for probably a year and a half or so, maybe. Eventually, she decided to let her hair grow out naturally, thinking she wouldnt be released until August 2026. Little did she know, her pardon was around the corner, and so was her reunion with her husband.
Beyond the hair drama, Todd recently got serious, shedding light on the harsh realities he witnessed while incarcerated. He called out the deep inequalities in the prison system, particularly how Black men were treated. At a press conference held in late May, he shared, Being in the prison system, anyone that says that its a fair shake, its not. They were denied programming. They were denied access to certain things, he said. I was not denied that, but we know why I wasnt denied that.
Todds honesty about the systemic issues he saw firsthand was well-received by fans, who praised him for using his platform to advocate for prison reform. Mind you, he had only just been released when he decided to shed light on the issue.
“I have met some wonderful men. I have listened to some horrific stories about things that have gone on in our system,” he continued, per Entertainment Weekly. “I will continue to fight for all of the guys that I dealt with and that I was blessed to be with at FPC Pensacola. I will continue to expose the injustices that go on there and throughout the Bureau of Prisons.”
