Travis Barker Says He Got Pancreatitis After Doctors Damaged A Critical Drainage Tube During An Endoscopy

Travis Barker shook fans on Tuesday when news broke of his hospitalization. At the time, there were few details about why doctors kept him at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. However, per TMZ,his wife, Kourtney Kardashian, remained by his side the entire time. By Wednesday, the reason spilled to the media. Travis was undergoing treatment for pancreatitis following an endoscopy. Now, it appears the damage caused was at the hands of doctors.

Travis Explains Why Doctors Hospitalized Him

Travis shared an Instagram post on Saturday detailing what happened this week. He said he had a scheduled endoscopy on Monday, which he attended feeling “great.” For those unaware, doctors use endoscopies to examine the interior of hollow organs or cavities, such as the digestive tract.

At dinner, Travis “developed excruciating pain.” Medical professionals hospitalized him that same day. Apparently, the endoscopy led to the discovery of a “very small polyp” and its subsequent removal–and this is where the issues began.

“During the endoscopy, I had a very small polyp removed right in a very sensitive area, usually handled by specialists, which unfortunately damaged a critical pancreatic drainage tube. This resulted in severe life-threatening pancreatitis.”

On Tuesday, he caused concern when he tweeted, “God save me.” His daughter Alabama Barker also called on the public for support, writing, “please send your prayers” on Instagram Story. She later posted a photo at her father’s bedside but quickly deleted it.

Despite the life-threatening situation, Travis let fans know he’s in recovery mode.

“I am so very, very grateful that with intensive treatment I am currently much better.”

It’s unclear whether Travis remains in the hospital or whether he’s been discharged. Check out his full post below:
