Trey Songz was reportedly arrested following an incident at a Hookah lounge and for allegedly punching an NYC nightclub employee in the face.
According to the New York Post, Songz, whose government name is Tremaine Aldon Neverson, was partying at the Dramma Night Club in Times Square on Sunday, December 4. Around 4:25 a.m., an employee reportedly told him that the club was closing, which allegedly made him become “needlessly irate.” In turn, Songz reportedly punched the worker in his face.
Subsequently, and more recently, on the morning of Sunday, December 14, Songz was reportedly escorted out at Mira restaurant and hookah lounge in Manhattan. This, because he reportedly damaged “$1,500 worth of restaurant property, including hookahs, DJ equipment, and sofas.”
Per the outlet, Songz appeared in court on Sunday, December 14, for his arraignment. He was reportedly charged with “five misdemeanor assault and harassment counts” for the December 4 incident, per Billboard. Additionally, he was also charged with a felony “mischief in the second degree” in connection with the Mira incident. TMZ reports that Songz pleaded not guilty to the charges, while Billboard adds that the singer “faces up to seven years in prison” for the felony.
Ultimately, the nightclub employee was reportedly given an order of protection against the singer as Songz was subsequently released from custody. The singer’s attorney, Mitchell Schuster, reportedly told the press that the latest fiasco occurred as a result of a group that “instigated a confrontation and attempted to surround” Songz.
“Last night, Trey was confronted by individuals who instigated a confrontation and attempted to surround him. His security intervened to protect him and contain the situation, and an altercation occurred in the ensuing confusion. Public figures are often treated as targets for instigation in pursuit of headlines or financial gain. Trey is cooperating fully in both matters, and we are confident the full context and facts will come to light,” Schuster reportedly stated.
The New York Post reports that the singer is due back in court on February 18.
