Earlier this month, rapper #TroyAve had Twitter buzzing after dropping his new song #2Legit2Quit. In it, Ave seemingly alludes to testifying against podcaster and former rapper #Taxstone who allegedly shot and killed his bodyguard back in 2016. If you recall, the shooting happened in Irving Plaza in NYC right before T.I. got on stage.

The lyrics read “I’m only loyal to my fam/Middle finger from the stand/It’s either me or you” and today, Ave visited The Breakfast Club where he was asked whether or not he would actually take the stand and testify against Taxstone in court.

“I can’t talk about the whole taking a stand. Just know I didn’t—I never have,” Troy Ave said. He later added, “I spoke to my lawyer yesterday and he said, ‘You cannot say anything about anything,'” since the case is ongoing.

Taxstone was indicted on charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm and receiving a gun through interstate commerce in January 2017. He plead guilty to the charges after police found his DNA on the murder weapon. However, after being indicted for murder, he plead “not guilty.”
