Roommates, it’s been almost a week since the U.S. Capitol riots shocked the country and the person that many hold largely responsible, Donald Trump, is finally speaking out. During a recent visit to Alamo, Texas, Trump formally addressed not only the riots, but also his pending impeachment—and his response is exactly what you would expect.
Speaking about the deadly U.S. Capitol riots that were led by his supporters, Trump took no responsibility for his part in fomenting the violent insurrection—despite his continuous calls and comments encouraging them to march on the Capitol and praising them while they were still carrying out the assault. “People thought that what I said was totally appropriate,” he said.
Trump arrived in Texas for his campaign against illegal immigration with just eight days remaining in his presidency, as lawmakers in Congress continue to move forward to impeach him for a second time. He also dismissed Democratic calls on his Cabinet to declare him unfit from office and remove him from power using the 25th Amendment.
“The 25th Amendment is of zero risk to me, but will come back to haunt Joe Biden and the Biden administration. As the expression goes, be careful of what you wish for.” He also stated that the entire impeachment process is “causing tremendous danger to our country.”
