Trump Sits Down For A One-On-One Meeting With Russian President Vladimir Putin

The United States and Russia have a very interesting relationship, but it looks like Donnie is ready to move forward. He met with Russian President Vladimir Putin for a one-on-one meeting in Finland today and he said they had “a lot of good things to talk about.”

Despite U.S. intelligence agencies concluding that Russia hacked and interfered in the 2016 presidential election (most likely to help Trump’s campaign), he refused to condemn the country. “He just said it’s not Russia. I will say this: I don’t see any reason why it would be,” Trump said of Putin, according to the Washington Post. He went on to say he had a “clean campaign” and “easily” beat Hillary Clinton.

We don’t know exactly what Trump and Putin talked about because the meeting was private, but during a news conference afterwards, Putin said the election allegations are “complete nonsense”… even though the U.S. special counsel investigating the election issued an indictment to 12 Russian intelligence officers just last week. Putin also admitted that he was rooting for Trump to win the presidency.

“Our relationship with Russia has NEVER been worse thanks to many years of U.S. foolishness and stupidity and now, the Rigged Witch Hunt!” Trump tweeted before the meeting. In response, Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs “liked” the tweet and even retweeted it with the comment “We agree.”

“As I said today and many times before, ‘I have GREAT confidence in MY intelligence people,’” Donnie tweeted after the meeting. “However, I also recognize that in order to build a brighter future, we cannot exclusively focus on the past — as the world’s two largest nuclear powers, we must get along!”
