Trump, GOP Leaders Celebrate End Of Historic Shutdown

Trump signed the government funding bill on Wednesday in the Oval Office, joined by Republican leaders including Speaker Mike Johnson, Steve Scalise, and Lisa McClain, along with megadonor Ken Griffin and former New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu. The legislation now funds military construction, veterans affairs, the Department of Agriculture, and the legislative branch through Sept. 2026, and the rest of the government through Jan. 30, 2026. The Senate cleared the measure 60-40, with eight Democrats crossing party lines, and the House followed with a 222-209 vote.

Social Media Reacts

Fans flooded The Shade Rooms Instagram comment section, clearly ready for the government shutdown saga to finally end. Some commenters demanded reassurance that food stamps and other benefits would still be delivered, while others were left scratching their heads, wondering how the shutdown even started. Amid the celebration, many also voiced concern that the chaos could repeat itself eventually.

One Instagram user @_kai.ceo_ wrote, “I need someone to explain to me why it lasted this long?

This Instagram user @tee_ladyyy said, “I need my stamp on the card by the morningŸŠ”

And, Instagram user @nvaughn30 added, “January 30th? So we’ll be right back here in 2 months, okay cool

Trump Blocks Layoffs, ACA Left Hanging

The bill halts the mass layoffs the White House tried to push during the shutdown and adds protections against future federal job cuts until early next year. However, it doesnt extend Affordable Care Act subsidies a key demand from Democrats who had insisted their inclusion was non-negotiable. Throughout the shutdown, Trump had refused most meetings with Democratic leaders, even as his frustrations mounted and he called for scrapping the Senate filibuster to bypass them, a move that went nowhere.

Trump Tells Americans: Remember This At Midterms

Trump didnt shy away from highlighting the fallout, pointing to air traffic disruptions, SNAP benefit delays, and federal worker layoffs. Yet, he framed the ordeal as a potential political win for Republicans, urging Americans not to forget” about this government shutdown when midterms roll around next year.

So, I just want to tell the American people you should not forget this when we come up to midterms and other things, Trump said. Dont forget what theyve done to our country.
