Roommates, Wendy William’s audience was thrilled after her return to The Wendy Show! Upon returning, Wendy was very open about her 10-year struggle with crack and cocaine usage.
“I was a mess, functioning, killing myself. I realize that I am a walking addict. You can’t just clean up and stop it and think it’s not going to affect you,” Wendy said.
Now, Wendy is making moves to help others overcome and take back control of their lives! Wendy has officially launched a substance abuse hotline to aid those struggling with addiction. Callers will be provided with various resources to help them get through!
According to Page Six, the 24-hour hotline will be fully staffed by trained Certified Recovery Coaches, who will assess the needs of every individual and match them with facilities according to their needs.
The intake process will also include an evaluation on “the level of care needed, which drugs or substances being used, as well as financial circumstances,”. Specialists will be able to match patients to facilities that may accept Medicaid, self-pay, or private insurance.
The hotline was launched through Wendy’s Hunter Foundation and in partnership with T.R.U.S.T. Wendy announced the line will also provide help for families of those suffering, and provide education and awareness information.
“We must all come together to respond to this crisis of addiction and substance abuse. Everyone is at risk from the inner cities to more affluent communities,” Wendy said in a statement. “My family and I are very proud to partner with T.R.U.S.T. to get people the help that they so desperately need, especially if they or their families have given up hope. There is hope.”
