TSR Sports: The Portland Trail Blazers To Sign Carmelo Anthony To A Non-Guaranteed Deal

It looks like Carmelo Anthony will get the chance to hit the court this season, as it is being reported that the Portland Trail Blazers are set to sign him to a non-guaranteed deal. ‘

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Melo will join the Trail Blazers during their upcoming road trip, which includes a game against his former team the Houston Rockets on Monday. The deal will reportedly pay Melo $14,490 while he is a part of the Trail Blazer’s roster.

The deal will become fully guaranteed on January 7th if he is still on the roster.

The 10-time All-Star was traded away from the Rockets last season after only having the opportunity to play in a total of 10 games.

According to ESPN, shortly after his exit from the Rockets, he questioned if he wanted to return to the game. However, back in August, during an interview with Stephen A. Smith, he said that he was ready to make his return to the game. Melo mentioned that his silence was not his surrender and that he felt he needed to step away from the game to reevaluate himself, his career and his life.

The team has reportedly tried to add Melo to their roster in the past and made an attempt to acquire him when he was with the New York Knicks.

Neil Olshey, the president of basketball operations for the Trail Blazers and Melo’s agent Leon Rose, has stayed in contact concerning Melo since the preseason. Over the past two days, conversations started to pick up, and on Thursday Olshey and coach Terry Stotts spoke with Melo before reaching an agreement.
