Roommates, A$AP Rocky has been waiting for charges in Swedish jail for two weeks, and he’s finally gotten them.
According to TMZ, A$AP has now been charged with assault causing actual bodily harm stemming from he altercation we all saw on video. If convicted, in Swedish court, A$AP could spend two years behind bars.
The prosecutor for the case reportedly says A$AP will remain in jail until his trial incomplete. It is expected to last three days, although the trial date has not yet been set. A representative for the prosecutor tells TMZ the trial should be held within the next two weeks, meaning A$AP will remain in custody during that time.
In all that has been going on with A$AP, many are questioning what is happening with the alleged victim, who A$AP says started the altercation. Well according to TMZ, the prosecutor says he is considering the alleged victims statement as well.
The alleged victim allegedly admits to hitting A$AP’s bodyguard with a pair of headphones, but only after the bodyguard lifts him off the ground by the neck. Prosecutors are ruling the headphones attack as self defense.
The bodyguard, however, has been clear of any involvement in the situation and is not being charged. This leads us to question how valid the victim’s statement could be if prosecutors are not charging A$AP’s bodyguard with assault
Prosecutors say they are reviewing the video footage seen online and tasing to witnesses, but are not hearing A$AP’s claim of self defense.
As we previously reported, A$AP turned himself in to Swedish authorities earlier this month and has been behind bars since. A$AP has been getting great support from the U.S government and from his celebrity counterparts.
We hope everything turns out well for him and he can return home soon!
