Soul Train was one of the most powerful advances of black music as it maintained cultural relevancy until it’s end in 2006! Hundreds of artists such as Rick James, LL Cool J and even Rosie Perez got their first big break in the name of love, peace and soul! It appears that now, a fresher crowd is on the come up! According to one of our Roommates, Diddy is revamping Soul Train and bringing it to Revolt Tv! She says they’re currently filming in LA.
“I’m not sure if anyone heard but Diddy is pretty much bringing Soul Train back on REVOLT!!! They’ve been filming lately and they didn’t mention the date yet but I’ve been on set multiple times and it’s pretty lit. One of the host’s is a celebrity choreographer. His name is @ayhollywood and I’ve seen him on set a lot with the DJ Maski (@djmaski) and DJDamage (@therealdjdamage). It’s been pretty good!”
I, for one, am super excited to hear that Hollywood is hosting! He’s choreographed various projects for Beyoncé (Yoncé) and Nicki Minaj (PinkPrint Tour; Shanghai, Want Some More). It will be interesting to see Hollywood find his footing among the likes of Don Cornelius and Shemar Moore who do not have primary backgrounds in dance. Besides, dance was also a huge part of the original Soul Train, so it makes sense to have a host that can dance!
