#TSRPolitics: What Would Happen If The Senate Republican Health Care Bill Passed?

Although it would reduce deficits by $321 billion, if passed, the Senate Republican health care bill is predicted to leave 22 million fewer Americans without health insurance by 2026 — according to the Congressional Budget Office.

The house passed the bill back in May and now the fate of America’s healthcare lies in senates hands. We hear they are pushing to get the Senate version of the bill voted on as early as this week, just in time for the July 4th recess. To win the vote, Republicans need 50 out of the 52 Republican senators to vote “yes.”

Let’s talk more numbers…

If this bill passes, Federal spending on Medicaid would be reduced by $772 billion over the next ten years. Additionally, according to CNN Money, roughly 15 million fewer American’s would be receiving Medicaid coverage by 2026.

There’s also a plan for premiums to rise for the next two years and then decline the following years.

CNN Money reports: ”In 2020, the average premium for the benchmark plan would be about 30% lower than under current law, mainly because those policies would cover fewer benefits — and come with much higher deductibles — and because insurers would receive federal funds designed to lower rates.”
