#TSRPositiveImages: The Obamas Are Training 200 African Leaders In Government & The Private Sector To Inspire The Next Generation!

Earlier this week, President #BarackObama and our forever First Lady #MichelleObama announced that they would be launching a program called ‘Obama Foundation Leaders: Africa,’ in which they will train 200 African leaders who work in government, civil society, and the private sector. The purpose of their initiative is for them to come together and create solutions to making positive changes in their communities.

In a statement, Chief international officer of the Obama Foundation, Bernadette Meehan, said, “The Obama Foundation Leaders Program: Africa represents our largest and most ambitious international program to date. In bringing together 200 young leaders from across Africa, we hope to begin a conversation about how each of us can create positive change in our communities.”

She continued, “In addition, I am honored to continue my work with the Obama Foundation as Chief International Officer as we develop a robust international programming slate that helps the Foundation achieve its mission of inspiring and empowering the next generation of civic leaders.”

The program launches this July and will include “five days of development and civic engagement workshops” and a town hall meeting with President Obama.

“The new program is part of a broader goal by the Obamas to create an ecosystem of change-makers across Africa, and eventually, the world, as the Foundation plans to launch similar leadership programs in regions around the world. Last year, the foundation launched its inaugural scholars program, which trained 20 emerging leaders from around the world in a one-year academic experience at University of Chicago’s Harris School for Public Policy.”
