We all know the saying, If it aint broke, dont fix it, and 9 times out of 10, Im going to agree with that, but in the music world, I see things a little differently.
Artists cover older songs all the time. Even some of the greatest of all time have hits that are covers of someone elses song. Some see it as biting, others see a remake as paying tribute to a song or artist that inspired them.
What it really boils down to is, did the cover do the original song justice? Well in these 10 cases, we think they did!
In honor of #BlackMusicMonth, we highlight some more of our most talented and the artists they inspired. SWIPE to let us know which covers are your faves and comment any others below!
