Many local Atlanta shoppers were terrified when their holiday shopping came to halt following a shooting that broke out inside the food court of Cumberland Mall. Now, two suspects have been arrested and officially charged for their roles in the incident.
Just a few days ago an argument reportedly got so heated that it resulted in shots being fired inside a popular Atlanta shopping mall. The incident occurred in the mall’s food court and left one unidentified 18-year-old male with gun shot wounds to both his neck and shoulder area. However, as @WSBTV reports, two teenage suspects have now been formally arrested and charged for the shooting that was rumored to have started over the release of the latest Jordan sneakers.
The suspects in the shooting have been identified as 18-year-old Zaire Dhanoolal and 19-year-old Joweer Ponce, both residents of Marietta, Georgia. Police said that they reviewed surveillance video showing one of the suspects point a gun at one of the two victims before shooting the other one. Dhanoolal is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, while Ponce is charged with reckless conduct and carrying a concealed weapon without a permit.
Upon their arrest, both Dhanoolal and Ponce were both taken into custody to the Cobb County Adult Detention Center. Despite arresting and charging the two suspects, local people say they are still actively investigating the shooting and are asking any Atlanta residents who might have information that could help to contact them.
