Police suspect that the boys had tampered with a gas line in order to burn the house down and hide any evidence pointing to them.
WSBTV reports, “Police say Yvonne Ervin called 911 around 7:49 a.m. and told emergency dispatchers her sons Cameron, 17, and Christopher Ervin, 22, were trying to kill her and her husband Zachary Ervin.”
If it wasn’t for Zachary’s decision to distract their sons, then they probably would not be alive today. Doing so allowed Yvonne to call 911.
When police got to the home, they found that Zachary had been stabbed and was severely injured. The other son was found inside with his mother who was severely injured as well. The parents are currently being treated at a hospital and both of the boys were taken into custody at the Gwinnett County Detention Center.
The family’s neighbor, Clint Miller, said of the tragedy, “You would never even expect that, they’re just an every day normal family in the neighborhood.” Police are still investigating the motive.
Roommates, keep this family in your prayers!
