Tanjala T. Gipson, the mother of Denver Broncos running back Tyler Badie, has spoken out hours after her son collapsed on the field during a game against the New York Jets.
According to TMZ, Badie “took a hit to the back” from a Jets linebacker during Sunday’s game. The outlet reports that the incident appeared to be a “routine hit,” and Badie made his way to the sidelines afterward.
However, cameras showed the 24-year-old lying on his back after a commercial break as medical officials rushed to his aid.
Social media users immediately shared their concerns and prayers for Badie in The Shade Room’s comment section.
Instagram user @sylvester_danielle_ wrote, “Im sending strength to this young man and his family during this time. Hoping for a full recovery.”
Additionally, the Broncos head coach, Sean Payton, reportedly spoke out a few hours after Badie’s public collapse via reporter Parker Gabriel.
Furthermore, on Sunday evening, Badie’s mother shared her own message via X, formerly Twitter.
“This photo was taken just before todays game. God was good then, and God is good now. We may not know what the future holds, but we know Who holds the future. Thank you so very much for your prayers for our son Tyler Badie (@only1badie),” she tweeted.
Ultimately, KOA Colorado reporter Brandon Krisztal shared a final update about Badie on Sunday evening. Krisztal rported that Badie flew home with a member of the Broncos medical staff. The reporter called the sighting of the 24-year-old a “good sign.”
“Broncos RB Tyler Badie flew home on the same commercial flight I happened to be on, accompanied by a member of the Broncos medical staff. Obviously a good sign, that after he was examined at a NY area hospital, he was able to fly home just behind his team…” he wrote.
According to Daily Mail, the full extent of Badie’s injuries remains unclear.
