Tyler Perry Helps To Feed 5,000 Families During His Food Giveaway Event

Now you all know that Tyler Perry is known for giving back and helping to better the community in various ways. With the holidays knocking at the door, his act of kindness is no different, and over the weekend he helped to feed thousands of families in the Atlanta area with Thanksgiving coming this week.

According to Variety, on Sunday, Tyler Perry hosted a Thanksgiving Food Giveaway at his studios and distributed non-perishable food items and gift cards to at least 5,000 local families on a first-come-first-served basis.

The food distribution was conducted as a drive-thru as families were required to stay in their cars in order to receive the food. The event attracted thousands, creating a long line of cars, which contributed to the traffic in the area.

Fox 5 Atlanta reports that the first car arrived the day before (Saturday, Nov. 21st), and many others followed filling out the long line.

Jeanette Walton, the first person who arrived in the line said, “I’ve been blessed in where my job has allowed me to work from home, but still I’ve had other family members that have lost jobs and had to move in. That’s really why I’m here because when you have to take on the burden of others, you find yourself in need yourself.”

Tyler Perry is known for giving back all year long. Back in April, he made headlines after he paid for groceries, during “Senior Hour” at 44 Kroger locations in Atlanta and 29 locations in his hometown of New Orleans.

Felix Turner, the Atlanta spokesman for Kroger said at the time, “We would like to join our customers in thanking Mr. Perry for his kindness and generosity during this unprecedented pandemic. It was truly a pleasure to see our customers fill with joy and gratitude as the news spread throughout 44 stores across metro Atlanta.”
