United Airlines Becomes First Airline To Off Non-Binary gender Booking Options

#Roommates, in an effort to be inclusive. It looks like #UnitedAirlines is now offering new gender options for non-binary passengers.

In a tweet on their twitter account they simply said “Fly how you identify” and revealed their new non-binary gender option!

Customers can now identify themselves as Male, Female, Undisclosed or Unspecified. The options chose by passengers must match their passports and other official identification.

The airline released a statement through their website saying: “United is determined to lead the industry in LGBT inclusivity, and we are so proud to be the first U.S. airline to offer these inclusive booking options for our customers,” United’s Chief Customer Officer Toby Enqvist said. “United is excited to share with our customers, whether they identify along the binary of male or female or not, that we are taking the steps to exhibit our care for them while also providing additional employee training to make us even more welcoming for all customers and employees.”

Their latest move seems to be just a small part of their bigger change to show allegiance to the LGBTQ community.  Working with the likes of the Human Rights Campaign and The Trevor Project. Both organizations that are major fixtures in the LGBTQ community!

The new options for non-binary passengers will take effect on June 1st of this year. Obviously with their change, other airlines may also look to be inclusive as well.

At The Shade Room we continue to support all people and welcome inclusivity to any capacity! Good job United Airlines!
