Wayment: Piglets Saved From A Barn Fire Are Later Served As Sausages To The Firefighters Who Saved Them!

Just when you bought you’ve seen it all, the internet pops up like “Surprise, bihh!” with some of the most outrageous stories ever! Six months ago, 18 2-week old pigs were saved from a barn fire near Pewsey, U.K. and farmer Rachel Rivers promised the firefighters that she’d present them with organic sausages once the pigs were ready for slaughter.

“This was just a token gesture to the fire service. They were over the moon with them,” Rivers told #TheGuardian. “This is just what we do – we are not an animal sanctuary. We give the pigs the best opportunity and the best life they could have for six months.”

Now, you KNOW that #PETA had something to say about this and the organization dragged Rivers for gifting the firefighters with the slain pigs.

“When the emergency services rescue animals, PETA thanks them with vegan chocolates, not the animals’ barbecued flesh,” Mimi Bekhechi, PETA’s Director of International Programmes said in a statement. “We’ll be sending Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service packs of Linda McCartney vegan sausages so that they can see how easy it is to truly be heroes for pigs — by sparing them all suffering.”

Regardless, the Pewsey Fire Station loved the sausages and thanked Rivers. “Huge thank you to Rachel Rivers for dropping them off for us to sample. Highly recommended by Pewsey fire station crew and if any one of our followers is having a bank holiday BBQ this weekend then check out these sausages, they are fantastic,” they said.

Would you guys feel some type of way if you were fed sausages that were made from an animal you saved?
