#WhereTheyAtNow: Remember Darnell Robinson From ‘My Super Sweet 16’? He’s Out Here Building His Own Music Empire As He Grinds To Keep His Family’s Legacy Alive!

I know you guys remember Darnell Robinson from his classic episode of MTV’s “My Super Sweet 16.” As you all know one of the highlights from his party was that he had Rihanna as his date. When we last caught up with him, he told us how that special moment came about.

Since then, Darnell has been grinding when it comes to the music scene. Being the grandson of Joe and Sylvia Robinson, who founded the legendary hip-hop label, Sugar Hill Records, Darnell has been working to keep his family’s legacy alive, as well as creating his own legacy.

We last left off with talking to Darnell about his family’s reality show, “First Family of Hip-Hop,” which premiered on Bravo back in 2017. Now we’re checking back in with him to see how the show has changed things and what we can expect next from him.

1: The last time we caught up with you, we talked about your classic Sweet Sixteen bash, or as you called it, your “black mitzvah,” and you told us how you were able to get Rihanna as your date. Now we all know today’s teens have been going above and beyond with their parties. Do you think you’ve seen a party that has topped yours, or close to topping yours?

No one has topped my party yet!! They all my sons and daughters!!

2: Now everyone knows that you’re a part of hip-hop royalty…the Sugar Hill Dynasty to be exact. When we last spoke, you talked to us about being more involved with behind the scenes of the music industry and we also got to see that on your family’s reality show, “First Family of Hip Hop.” What would you say is the biggest pro and con about being a part of this industry?

Pros a lot of creative people that I meet and do business with and make music with on the daily. Cons a lot of shady people with hidden agendas saturating the game.

3: Aside from viewers seeing the business side of things with your family, we also got to see your personal lives. How would you say reality television has impacted your relationship with your family members?

It hasn’t changed anything and the reason why is because my family and I didn’t change anything for TV. They filmed our lives as we live it.

4: Now aside from being under your family’s “Sugar Hill” banner, you’ve also started your own label, “Rich Clique Entertainment.” What obstacles have you faced as you travel on the road to creating your own legacy?

Having to continuously prove myself to people, and push through for all the people I believe in from producers to artists.

5: Are there any upcoming projects that you have coming out that you may want our Roommates to look out for?

My EP NEVER GOING BACK FT Rihanna/ 24 Hrs/ Lil NasX /Frank Ocean and others.
