According to AP News, the statue unveiling was held at Heritage Park in Tina Turner’s hometown of Brownsville, Tennessee, on Saturday, September 27. Per USA Today, the date marked the city’s annual Tina Turner Heritage Days celebration. Furthermore, the statue is reportedly ten feet tall and shows Turner rocking her signature voluminous, bumped hair, a dress with a microphone in hand. Per the outlet, sculptor Fred Ajanogha noted that he wanted to capture Turner’s “flexibility of movement on stage” and her “mane of a lion” hair

“Tina Turner, the Queen of Rockn Roll, has died peacefully today at the age of 83 after a long illness in her home in Kusnacht near Zurich, Switzerland. With her, the world loses a music legend and a role model,” they reportedly stated.
