Whoopi Goldberg Gives An Update As She Recovers From Pneumonia: ‘I Came Very, Very Close To Leaving The Earth’

It has been some time since fans have seen Whoopi Goldberg sitting at the table with her co-hosts on “The View.”

Many fans grew concerned about her absence from the show, and last month Joy Behar updated viewers and let them know that Whoopi was battling pneumonia. She let everyone know that it was serious but reassured that she was recovering.

On Friday, in a video shared to the show’s social media accounts, Whoopi addressed fans and gave a little more detail as to why she’s been away for a significant amount of time.  She said, “I had pneumonia, and I was septic. Pneumonia in both lungs, which meant there’s fluid, there was all kinds of stuff going on. Yes, I came very, very close to leaving the Earth. Good news: I didn’t.”

Whoopi also thanked her co-hosts and said, “Ladies, I cannot wait to see y’all. This has been interesting, and I’ll tell you about it when we’re all at the table. To everybody, see you soon.”

According to USA Today, Whoopi’s absence from the show started to cause viewers to come up with theories to where she could have been. Some people reportedly thought that she joined the new Fox show “The Masked Singer,” while others thought she was preparing to host the Oscars.

Nonetheless, we are glad to see that Whoopi Goldberg is still here with us today, and we cannot wait for her return to television.

We continue to send our prayers and wish her a speedy recovery.
